Helpful Hints – Wood Deck and Furniture Preparation & Cleaning
Before applying any of the LOBA DeckOil products to your wood surface we suggest the following preparation and cleaning:
Preparation of Your Wood
In order to ensure optimal impregnation of the LOBA DeckOil products, newly laid wood decking or furniture should weather for at least 4-8 weeks to allow the wood to dry out so the LOBA DeckOil products will absorb into the wood.
Cleaning Your Wood Deck or Furniture
Prior to using any LOBA product make sure it is the right product for your surface and please read the directions. Before cleaning any surface, remove all dust and debris.
Consider using LOBA DeckCleaner to clean the surface of your wood. The LOBA DeckCleaner can be used on any wood deck or furniture surface. Before using LOBA DeckCleaner, apply a small amount onto the area as a test and wipe using a microfiber material cloth.
If you are satisfied with the result, continue to apply the product. Wipe up any excess material.
Open to foot traffic after 6 hours, heavy traffic 12 hours.
How Often Should You Clean
This depends on how much foot traffic and debris you will have on your deck. Various weather elements can also affect your deck. The average household does intensive cleaning on their deck 2-3 times a year. The average household does a light cleaning of their deck 1-2 times a month or as needed. This is the same for wood furniture. It can depend on the amount of use and weather elements. Use your best judgment or contact LOBA Technical Department for any questions.
